Topic-Contributed Sessions
A topic-contributed session is planned in advance by one or more organizers and includes speakers presenting on a shared topic. Topic-contributed sessions consist of four speakers, which may include a discussant; each speaker has 20 minutes to present, and the remaining time is reserved for floor discussion.
To propose a topic-contributed session:
- Develop your idea and a list of speakers who agree to present on a common topic
- Submit your idea online from July 10, 2023, to August 31, 2023 (including all the information outlined below)
- Await approval from the ICES VII Program Committee
Not all proposed sessions will be accepted. Organizers will be notified of the status of their proposed session by October 2, 2023.
Anyone can propose a session. Once you decide on a session theme, shop your theme around with the people you know are active in the area. Once you have the required four committed speakers, you can submit your proposal online. The submission site will be open from July 10, 2023, to August 31, 2023.
For submission, have the following information ready:
- Session title
- Session format (four presenters or three presenters + discussant)
- Session speakers and discussant names, affiliations, and email addresses
- Session participant names, affiliations, and email, including organizer and chair (can be same as organizer)
- Session description (i.e., topic relevance, innovativeness/contribution, and presentation information) of maximum 4,000 characters with spaces. The session description should provide a summary of the topic and its relevance and novelty or innovation. In addition, we encourage you to include a summary of the diversity of presenters (sector and geographic representation) or other features that make it particularly relevant.
- Interest of the speakers in submitting their contribution to be considered for publication in the special issues of Survey Methodology and/or the Statistical Journal of the IAOS
