Contributed and Speed Sessions
Contributed and speed abstract submissions will be reviewed and assigned to a session by the ICES VII Program Committee. As much as possible, sessions will include presentations on a similar theme. There will be two formats for contributed sessions: regular contributed sessions and speed sessions, each with their advantages. When submitting work for consideration, indicate your preference between the two formats.
Contributed sessions are intended to provide a forum for group discussions and bring together perspectives from a broad audience. These oral presentation sessions will be 100 minutes in length with 4–5 oral presentations. Sessions will be assigned a chair, and there will be floor discussion following the presentations, as time allows.
Contributed sessions will be arranged by the ICES VII Program Committee from submitted abstracts.
Speed sessions are a hybrid of both an oral and poster presentation. Each speed session will allow speakers to give a five-minute overview, or ‘elevator pitch’ presentation, which will be followed by a poster session later.
These hybrid sessions are intended to encourage face-to-face extended discussions related to the work and provide the opportunity to share graphic and tabular material in detail. These sessions are also useful for sharing work in progress or exploratory work with interested colleagues, leading to in-depth discussion and potential for collaboration.
For the poster portion, speakers will remain next to their poster for the duration of the session to answer questions and discuss their work in detail. Each author is provided a 7-foot-high (2134mm) x 3-foot-wide (915mm) bulletin board on which to display a poster with a summary of their work. During the designated periods, authors will remain near their poster to discuss their work in small groups. Note that poster presenters are not supplied with audio-visual equipment or electricity.
