What is the status of 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop?
After careful consideration of the evolving concerns about COVID-19 regarding travel and large group gatherings, the ASA has determined the best and most responsible decision is to hold 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop as a virtual conference.
What dates and times will the virtual event take place?
With the move to a virtual conference, we have adjusted the program dates to September 22–25. Adjusted session dates and times can be found in the online program. All session times are indicated (provided) in the Eastern time zone.
Should I cancel my travel arrangements?
If you have already made your travel arrangements for Rockville, please contact your travel provider to investigate the cancellation options you have available.
Who can participate in the 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop virtual event?
All paid registrants. You can register for the event through Friday, September 25.

Registration is now open and will remain so through Friday, September 25.
Is registration open for short courses?
Registration for the short courses is now open and will remain so through Wednesday, September 23.

Given the virtual format, we have decided to offer each attendee two free short course registrations. You may register for a maximum of one free course each day.

If you would like to attend additional courses, you may do so for an additional fee of $75 per course. Please email asainfo@amstat.org if you wish to purchase additional courses.

Space is limited, so register as soon as possible.
Will there still be sponsors?

How do I access the virtual event?
Details about how to access the virtual 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop conference will be made available to all registrants as the conference approaches, but no later than September 21.
Do I need to download anything to attend the 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop sessions?
We are still in the process of selecting the platform for the virtual event; however, as an attendee, we plan for there to be no downloads or installations required. Speakers/presenters may need to log in to present during their session. Most content will be available on demand after the workshop concludes.
What platform is being used by session speakers?
We are still in the process of selecting the platform for the virtual event and will provide more information as it becomes available. Please note Zoom will not be used.

Program Information

What portion of the 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop program will be available virtually?
The virtual conference will include short courses, general sessions, concurrent contributed sessions, roundtables, and e-posters. There will also be a virtual exhibit hall and a networking event.
Short Courses
The 2020 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop short courses will be presented virtually September 22–23. You can register for these online and via PDF registration form. You may register for a maximum of one free course each day. Additional courses will be made available on demand for an additional $75 per course. Please email asainfo@amstat.org for more information.
E-Poster Presentations
The format for e-poster presentations is still being developed. We will provide more information to presenters in August.
Roundtables
Roundtable discussions—to be held Thursday, September 24—will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. Advanced registration is not required, but the virtual chat rooms will be limited to 10 participants at a time.
Plenary Sessions
There are three keynote sessions on the program, one at the start of every day, beginning Wednesday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Session Chair Information

What are my roles and responsibilities during my session?
During your session, we need you to fulfill the same role as you would have during the face-to-face conference. This consists of the following:
  • Log in five minutes before your session starts to ensure connectivity, adjust volume, ask questions, etc. This is important and will help you! There will be a technical support person assigned to your session.
  • Introduce each speaker with name, affiliation, and talk title.
  • Keep the session running on time.
  • Manage Q&A

Short Course and Concurrent Session Presenter Information

What are my roles and responsibilities during my session?
Please log in five minutes before your session starts to ensure connectivity, adjust volume, ask questions, etc. This is important and will help you!

The sessions will run essentially as they would have at the face-to-face meeting. Please be prepared to share your presentation (PowerPoint, Keynote, PDF, etc.) with the audience. Never fear—should any problems arise, there will be technical support available for assistance.

Roundtable Presenter Information

What actions are required of me prior to the event?
Attendees will be able to join virtual chat rooms on Thursday, September 24, on a first-come, first-served basis. Virtual rooms will be limited to 10 participants.

The discussion will run essentially as it would have at the face-to-face meeting. We recommend preparing 2–3 key questions to help aid the discussion. Never fear—should any problems arise, there will be technical support available for assistance.
