Software User Log Analysis for a Web Application (303422)

Big data is encountered by organizations across virtually every industry. This data can be processed and analyzed in order to lead to better decision making and strategy, but not without inherent challenges. The challenges of processing big data include analysis, capture, curation, storage, transfer, visualization and information privacy. We have explored and analyzed hundreds of thousands user interactions with a software application while adjusting to these challenges. The data, which spans a two-year period, was examined in order to gain insight into the user archetypes and patterns of interaction the users had within the application. The analysis will be used to inform future development of the software.
