Using statistics to carve out a place as a woman in environmental consulting (303299)

*Jenise Megan Brown, SWCA Environmental Consultants

Keywords: biostatistics, consulting, environmental

I am a prime example of a millenial woman. I focused on a STEM education and entered the job market with an advanced degree in biology, heavily stacked in statistics courses. After entering the fast paced and still heavily male dominated world of environmental consulting I have spent the last two years creating a niche of managing large project datasets and performing statistics for environmental projects. Utilizing skills as a data scientist has allowed me capitalize on opportunities that span regions and disciplines. I feel strongly that many women can use similar strategies to carve out non-traditional roles in similar fields.
