Making Ethical Decisions Is Hard

We will explore the foundational historical frameworks for ethical guidelines and engage participants in hands-on activities, discussions, and group exercises to foster deeper understanding and application of the American Statistical Association Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice and Academic Data Science Alliance Data Science Ethos. Through carefully crafted scenarios, participants will confront realistic ethical challenges that provide opportunities to practice decision-making skills in a safe and supportive environment. By the end of the course, participants will emerge with enhanced awareness and confidence in their ability to make decisions and support ethical practice.
Using Tools for Effective Open Science Collaboration: GitHub

Dive into the world of collaborative coding, analysis, and data science in using Git and GitHub, popular tools for distributed version control. Participants will gain a solid understanding of version control concepts, branching strategies, and collaboration workflows, empowering them to manage large and small projects both solo and in teams. Through hands-on exercises, attendees will learn effective strategies for version control to foster seamless collaboration and more efficient analysis.
