Abstract:

This panel discussion will address plans to design and implement graduate programs in Statistics Education. Some of the issues to be discussed include: What courses should comprise such a program? Do new courses need to be developed? What resources are available? How many and what kinds of courses are needed to comprise a viable program? What faculty expertise is needed to begin such a program? How can collaborations be forged with faculty from other disciplines or other institutions who can assist this type of program? How can students from other programs be enticed to pursue study in Statistics Education? What factors should one consider for deciding whether to design and implement such a program? What arguments can one make to local administrators to convince them of the benefits of offering such a program?
