Career Development Opportunities for Statisticians (302933)

Statisticians, by training, are armed with powerful analytical and decisionmaking tools to help make sense of complex data generated by their clients or within their own organizations. However, applied statisticians often may be perceived as “number crunchers” within their organizations, having limited career development and advancement opportunities. Opportunities for statisticians to develop and advance in their careers can range from subject matter expertise to technical leadership to people leadership to organizational leadership. Several examples of career path experiences, tips to navigate through it, and useful skills will be shared based on a survey of colleagues following various paths and my own experience as an industry statistician and team lead.
