This presentation will offer guidelines and tips for delivering an effective and professional written or oral report for boards of directors and others. It will include statistical and nonstatistical aspects of being an effective communicator. Usability of content and overall appearance will be emphasized. In addition to the statistical issues, this talk will cover what should and should not be in a cover letter, as well as formatting for the overall report. What should be in the basic report, and what should be saved for an appendix? How should the data, figures, graphs, and tables be organized and presented? How should we incorporate spreadsheets and more complex statistical concepts and images when they are necessary to include? Tips for sending reports by email and what should be done differently when presenting orally will be covered, as well.
