SIGNIFICANCE MAGAZINE COMING SOON
As the result of a partnership between the ASA and Royal Statistical Society, every ASA member will receive Significance in addition to Amstat News starting in September. The magazine will be issued quarterly and focus on statistics and the analysis and interpretation of data. To accompany the collaboration, a website for the magazine will launch later this year. We are looking for volunteers to serve as news editors who will write and post articles for the site. JSM 2010 REGISTRATION – ADVANCE REGISTRATION DEADLINE – JULY 13
The deadline to receive the advance registration rate for JSM 2010 is July 13. Register now. JSM registration will be available onsite in Vancouver July 31 – August 5 (increased fees apply). Don't forget to also register for Continuing Education courses, the Career Placement Service, and other special JSM only opportunities.

The Caucus of Academic Representatives will hold its fourth Workshop for Chairs of Programs in Statistics and Biostatistics on July 31, prior to JSM in Vancouver. This workshop is designed to provide information and discussion for leaders of statistics and biostatistics groups and departments. Contact Keith Crank for more information.

The National Institute of Statistical Science and the ASA will hold a writing workshop for junior researchers. There is no fee to participate.
MEETING WITHIN A MEETING (MWM) STATISTICS WORKSHOP FOR MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE TEACHERS – Vancouver, British Columbia – August 4–5, 2010
MWM will take place in conjunction with the Joint Statistical Meetings this summer in Vancouver, British Columbia. The workshop is meant to strengthen middle- and high- school mathematics and science teachers’ understanding of statistics and to provide them with hands-on activities they can use in their own classrooms.
MEASURING AND ENHANCING SERVICES TRADE DATE AND INFORMATION CONFERENCE – Washington, DC – September 14, 2010
The International Trade Administration—in conjunction with the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and private sector innovators—will present a one-day conference, Measuring and Enhancing Services Trade Data and Information. The conference kicks off the U.S. Department of Commerce’s initiative to collect and disseminate the data and information needed to enable services industries to make better business decisions. It will feature innovative new approaches to collection and dissemination of data and information from public and private sources.
2010 ASA FDA/INDUSTRY STATISTICS WORKSHOP REGISTRATION & HOUSING OPEN – Washington, DC – September 20–22, 2010
Registration and housing are now open for the 2010 FDA/Industry Statistics Workshop, which will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC. Join statisticians from industry, academia, and the FDA for two days of sessions focused on the science and statistics associated with developing medical products. Additional short courses will be available on September 20.
66TH ANNUAL DEMING CONFERENCE ON APPLIED STATISTICS – Atlantic City, New Jersey – December 6–10, 2010
The 66th Deming Conference will include two parallel half-day tutorial sessions based on recently published books for the first three days for a total of 12 tutorial sessions. Then, the conference will continue with two two-day short courses. Attendees will receive bound proceedings of the presentations.
