CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - 2007 NEW ENGLAND SYMPOSIUM ON STATISTICS IN SPORTS - Cambridge, Massachusetts - Deadline: May 31, 2007
The 2007 New England Symposium on Statistics in Sports will bring together statisticians and quantitative analysts connected with sports teams, sports media, and universities to discuss common problems of interest in statistical modeling and analysis of sports data. The meeting is sponsored jointly by the Harvard University Department of Statistics, the ASA Section on Statistics in Sports, the Boston Chapter of the ASA, and the Section on Operations Research in Sports of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. The symposium format will be a mixture of talks and posters, as well as a panel discussion.

THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ESTABLISHMENT SURVEYS REGISTRATION OPENS - Montreal, Quebec - June 18-21, 2007
The Third International Conference on Establishment Surveys (ICES-III) will be held in MontrAcal, QuAcbec, Canada, June 18-21, 2007. ICES-III will explore the current state of the art in survey methodology for businesses, farms, and institutions. Online registration for ICES-III will close on May 29, 2007.

MEETING WITHIN A MEETING (MWM): ASA PROGRAM FOR MATH/SCIENCE TEACHERS - Salt Lake City, Utah - July 30, 2007
The first Meeting Within a Meeting will take place during JSM this summer in Salt Lake City. MWM is for middle school/junior high math and science teachers who want to enhance their understanding and teaching of statistics within the math/science curriculum. BEYOND AP STATISTICS (BAPS) WORKSHOP - Salt Lake City, Utah, July 31, 2007
The ASA/NCTM Joint Committee is pleased to sponsor a Beyond AP Statistics (BAPS) Workshop at the annual Joint Statistical Meetings in Salt Lake City on July 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The BAPS workshop is offered for AP Statistics teachers and consists of enrichment material just beyond the basic AP syllabus. JEFFREY D. HART WINS 2007 DON OWEN AWARD
The Don Owen Award for 2007 was presented to Jeffrey D. Hart on March 30, 2007, at the Conference of Texas Statisticians by Anuradha Roy. Professor Hart was nominated by Professor Raymond Carroll. The award was presented on behalf of the San Antonio Chapter of the American Statistical Association.
