ASA & NCHS RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM - Deadline: May 15,
2007
The ASA, in cooperation with the National Center for Health Statistics
(NCHS), created the ASA & NCHS Research Fellowship Program to bridge
the gap between academic scholars and government health research programs.
Fellows work to solve methodological problems and study analytic issues relevant
to NCHS programs, data, and facilities. Applicants should have a recognized
research record and considerable expertise in the area of proposed research. The
application deadline is May 15, 2007.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - 2007 NEW ENGLAND SYMPOSIUM ON STATISTICS IN
SPORTS - Cambridge, Massachusetts - Deadline: May 31, 2007
The 2007 New England Symposium on Statistics in Sports will bring
together statisticians and quantitative analysts connected with sports teams,
sports media, and universities to discuss common problems of interest in
statistical modeling and analysis of sports data. The meeting is sponsored
jointly by the Harvard University Department of Statistics, the ASA Section on
Statistics in Sports, the Boston Chapter of the ASA, and the Section on
Operations Research in Sports of the Institute for Operations Research and the
Management Sciences. The symposium format will be a mixture of talks and
posters, as well as a panel discussion.

SPRING RESEARCH CONFERENCE ON STATISTICS IN INDUSTRY AND TECHNOLOGY -
Ames, Iowa - May 21-23, 2007
The 14th Annual
Spring Research Conference (SRC) on Statistics in Industry and Technology
will be held May 21-23, 2007. The conference will take place on the campus of
Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. It is hosted by the Statistical Laboratory
and Department of Statistics at Iowa State University and is jointly sponsored
by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and the ASA Section on Physical and
Engineering Sciences.
39TH SYMPOSIUM ON THE INTERFACE - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - May
23-26, 2007
The Interface Foundation of North America invites you to participate in the
39th Interface Symposium, the
premier annual conference on the interface of computing and statistics. The 2007
symposium will be held May 23-26, 2007, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The theme

The Third International Conference on Establishment Surveys (ICES-III)
will be held in Montréal, Québec, Canada, June 18-21, 2007. ICES-III will
explore the current state of the art in survey methodology for businesses,

MEETING WITHIN A MEETING (MWM): ASA PROGRAM FOR MATH/SCIENCE TEACHERS
- Salt Lake City, Utah - July 30, 2007
The first MWM will take place during JSM this summer in Salt Lake
City. MWM is for middle school/junior high math and science teachers who want to
enhance their understanding and teaching of statistics within the math/science
curriculum. Do you know any middle school/junior high teachers who might be
interested in attending MWM?

NEW DISTANCE TRAINING PROGRAM
The ASA's Biopharmaceutical Section recently launched a web-based distance
training program. Web-based training is becoming increasingly popular as a
cost-effective alternative to live training courses, and the Section is excited
about offering the program as a service to our membership.
JUDGES SOUGHT FOR ASA PROJECT COMPETITION
The ASA/NCTM Joint Committee is seeking judges for the ASA project

2007 FDA/INDUSTRY STATISTICS WORKSHOP DATE AND LOCATION
ANNOUNCED
The 2007 organizing committee is pleased to
announce that the next FDA/Industry Statistics Workshop will be held
September 18-19 at the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Arlington, Virginia. Short
courses are being organized and will be held September 17. Updated information
about the 2007 workshop will be available in early June.
