The newly created Excellence in Statistical Reporting Award (EISRA) of the American Statistical Association encourages and recognizes members of the communications media who best display a commitment to statistics and to advancing the role of the media in the science of statistics in public life. E.C. Bryant Scholarship Nomination Deadline: April 30, 2004.
The scholarship, supported by Westat, is awarded annually to a graduate student who demonstrates significant potential for contributing to the field of survey statistics. Registration Ongoing for the ASA Conference on Radiation and Health
Radiation in Realistic Environments: Interactions Between Radiation and Other Factors, June 27 - 30, 2004 in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Registration is limited 100 participants. New Short Course
Privacy, Confidentiality, and the Protection of Health Data: A Statistical Perspective on the HIPAA Privacy Rule offered on April 27, 2004 in Washington, D.C.
This one-day course will cover: Legal issues relating to the confidentiality of health data; Assessing disclosure risk; Statistical disclosure limitation techniques to minimize disclosure risk; Example of disclosure limitation techniques used to protect health-related data sets; and Restricted access procedures.
