HPSS STUDENT AWARDS COMPETITION - Deadline: December 23, 2005
The Health Policy Statistics Section is now accepting submission for the annual student awards competition. Current students, or those who completed their degrees within the past year, are eligible to apply for up to $800 US to be applied toward expenses to attend the 2006 JSM.
2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TELEPHONE SURVEY METHODOLOGY - Registration Deadline: December 21, 2005 Housing Deadline: December 23, 2005
This conference will bring together survey researchers and practitioners concerned with telephone survey methodology and practice to stimulate research papers. Register online through December 21. Reserve Housing through December 23, 2005.

W. J. YOUDEN AWARD - Deadline: March 15, 2006
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2006 W. J. Youden Award in Interlaboratory Testing sponsored by the American Statistical Association. This award was established in 1985 to recognize publications that make outstanding contributions to the design and/or analysis of interlaboratory tests or describe ingenious approaches to the planning and evaluation of data from such tests. The award recipient(s) will receive a certificate and a share of a $1,000 prize.
WILKS MEMORIAL MEDAL NOMINATIONS - Deadline: April 1, 2006
The 2006 Samuel S. Wilks Memorial Medal Committee invites members to submit nominations for this award, to be presented at the 2006 annual meetings in August. The award consists of a medal, citation, and honorarium.
BRYANT SCHOLARSHIP NOMINATIONS - Deadline: April 1, 2006
The Edward C. Bryant Scholarship for Outstanding Graduate Student in Survey Statistics is awarded each August at the Joint Statistical Meetings. The winner receives a certificate and a $1,500 cash prize. Contact Elizabeth A. Stasny with questions about submitting a nomination.

NEW LEARNSTAT: TEACHING COLLEGE-LEVEL STATISTICS USING THE GAISE GUIDELINES - San Antonio, Texas - January 11, 2006
This half-day workshop will discuss implementation of the GAISE guidelines in college-level statistics courses. Examples will be taken from the introductory course and a second course in time series/regression. Simulations to enhance understanding of the theoretical concepts also will be demonstrated.

Published by UCLA Statistics since 1996, the editorial board and the website will remain as they now are, and UCLA Statistics will continue to host and manage the journal.
