ASA Election Results Are In |

The ASA membership has elected Lisa LaVange, director of the Office of Biostatistics in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as the 113th president of the American Statistical Association. LaVange will serve a one-year term as president-elect beginning January 1, 2017. Her term as president becomes effective January 1, 2018. G. David Williamson, senior science adviser at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has been elected as an ASA vice president.

Statisticians Compile List of 10 Simple Rules for Effective Statistical Practice |

Statistics may be everywhere, but they aren't always understood, calculated, or communicated effectively. After a suggestion from the ASA, a group of leading statisticians penned "Ten Simple Rules for Effective Statistical Practice" to help researchers avoid pitfalls of misrepresenting data or formulating hypotheses based on faulty statistical reasoning.

Rebecca Doerge: Latest Statistician Named Senior University Administrator

The statistical community congratulates ASA Fellow Rebecca Doerge for being named dean of the Mellon College of Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
Doerge joins a growing list of statisticians in senior university administration positions that includes other college deans, university provosts, a university president, and more.
