ASA Section Changes Name to Statistical Learning and Data Science |

To better emphasize the unique interdisciplinary nature of statistics and its foundational role in the field of data science, the ASA's Statistical Learning and Data Mining Section has revised its charter and changed its name to the Statistical Learning and Data Science Section. The move also reflects the broader scope of ASA members' activities in the burgeoning field of data science.
Members of the section approved the change during the ASA's recent election process. Read more (PDF).

This is Statistics Recognized for Superior Achievement in Branding, Reputation, and Engagement

The ASA's public education campaign, "This is Statistics" (TiS), was nominated for a 2016 North America SABRE Award, which recognizes superior achievement in branding, reputation, and engagement. TiS was one of approximately 300 campaign finalists selected from among more than 2,000 entries in this year's competition.
Since its launch in 2014, the TiS website has averaged more than 3,000 unique visitors per month, its videos have been watched more than 70,000 times, and its promotional toolkit has become a go-to resource for ASA members promoting the field of statistics.
