JSM STATbit
Our annual JSM continues to grow! The 1994 Toronto JSM saw 3,700 attendees, whereas last year's JSM in the same city welcomed more than 4,500 attendees. The largest meeting on record remains San Francisco's JSM 2003 with almost 5,000 attendees. JSM 2002 in New York is a close second with just more than 4,700 attendees. This year's meeting is going to be well-attended with more than 4,000 pre-registered attendees. Learn more about JSM 2005.

JSM 2005 CAREER DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR: August 7, 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Make plans to attend the free JSM Career Development Seminar, Communicating, Negotiating, and Gaining Influence: How Statisticians Can Be Successful in the Office and in the Classroom, with Murray K. Clayton, University of Wisconsin-Madison. This seminar will take place Sunday, August 7, from 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the Minneapolis Convention Center Room 102C.
JSM FIRST TIME ATTENDEE ORIENTATION AND RECEPTION: August 7, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Looking to get the most out of your first JSM experience? Join us on Sunday, August 7, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for great information, networking, and good food at the Minneapolis Convention Center Room L100F.
BEYOND AP STATISTICS WORKSHOP: August 8, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The ASA/NCTM Joint Committee is pleased to sponsor this year's BAPS Workshop in Minneapolis on August 8 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The BAPS workshop is offered for AP Statistics teachers, and consists of enrichment material just beyond the basic AP syllabus. The cost of the workshop is $30, which covers all materials. Beverages will be served in the morning and light snacks in the afternoon. Lunch will be on your own. Register for the workshop. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE ASA COMMUNITIES BOOTH
The ASA Communities Booths, cosponsored by Chapters, Sections, Education, Career Development, and Membership, will be located in the main registration area at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The booths are seeking volunteers with the only requirement a willingness to share information and your experiences. Sign up for the Council of Chapters Booth, the Council of Sections Booth, the Education Booth or the Career Development Booth.
CE TEXTBOOKS
Those who ordered a textbook when they registered in advance for a CE course can pick up the book as they check in at their classroom. Please remember to bring both the CE course ticket and the ticket for the textbook. Textbooks are not available for sale onsite.

GETTING AROUND
Getting to downtown Minneapolis is easy. From the airport, take a cab or try the Light Rail Transit. The LRT makes 17 stops, from the Warehouse District downtown to Mall of America in Bloomington. Train fares range from $1.25 to $1.75.
SHOPPING
Travel + Leisure magazine named Minneapolis the fourth best shopping destination in the country. With unique boutiques, lots of department stores, and no sales tax on apparel, it's easy to see why. Stroll and shop along Nicollet Mall or take the Light Rail Transit to Mall of America, the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the country.
