Four ASA members were elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) recently, a private, nonprofit institution established by congressional charter. NAS recognizes achievement in science by election to membership, and—with other organizations—provides science, technology, and health policy advice to the federal government and other organizations. ASA members honored are Emery N. Brown, Massachusetts General Hospital; Emmanuel J. Candès, Stanford University; Judea Pearl, University of California, Los Angeles (emeritus); and Bin Yu, University of California, Berkeley. Read more.
