The Best of Three Worlds: Combining IBM SPSS Statistics with Your R and Python Code for Extended Algorithms, Ease of Use, and Presentation Output
Jon Peck
IBM
This presentation is about getting the most from statistical software by combining features from IBM SPSS Statistics, Python, and R into a single package. By using the Statistics custom dialog builder, embedded Python or R programmability, the extension command mechanism, and the apis for presentation-quality output, anyone can build a procedure that uses the best tools from these sources. The use of an xml syntax description language for extensions plus Python and R transition modules offloads much of the work of developing an extension and allows the user code to focus on the algorithms and output. Examples will be shown for TURF analysis and rim weighting using Python, quantile regression using R, and complex graphics using Python and SPSS GPL.
