Accessibility and Inclusion

The American Statistical Association strives to foster accessible spaces during the Joint Statistical Meetings. Here’s what’s you can expect:

• Keynote and plenary sessions will have live captioning.
• Speakers will use microphones for all sessions.
• Clearly marked reserved seating for those with disabilities will be at the front of every session room.
• Clearly marked reserved seating for those using wheelchairs/scooters will be in every session room.
• All conference facilities are accessible to wheelchair and scooter users.
• Elevators are marked, and staff will be able to help you identify elevators.
• Our hotel team will work with attendees who need hotel accommodations.
• Attendees will have access to a nursing/lactation room.
• There will be gender-neutral restrooms.
• JSM provides a quiet reflection space for those in need of a place to pray or take a respite from conference activity.

Electronic Devices
All cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices should be silenced before attending any session or meeting.

Smoking/Vaping
Smoking and vaping are not permitted at any JSM function unless the event is held outside.

Sustainability

The Oregon Convention Center is LEED^® Platinum certified, the highest level of certification, so you can expect the following:

Water Bottle Refilling Stations and Path Water Bottles
To reduce plastic waste, the convention center offers refillable, BPA-free, and heavy-gauge aluminum bottles for purchase in its restaurants and cafes. Guests can refill these and other water bottles at 19 refilling stations throughout the center.

Bold Reuse
When customers order food from convention center restaurants, they receive their items in reusable Bold Reuse containers. After their meals, customers simply return these containers to receptacles located near the restaurants. The containers are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before being returned to the center to be reused.
