Invited Session Proposals – Deadline September 8, 2021

Participation Limitations

To submit an invited session proposal, you will need the following:

  1. Session Type (Invited)
  2. Session Subtype (Paper or Panel)
  3. Sponsor (Outside Organization, ASA Committee, ASA Section, Sponsoring Society, ASA Journal). A pull-down screen with a pre-approved list is provided; select no more than three.
  4. Session Title
  5. Session Description. Please provide any of the following information:
    • Short description of session, including focus, content, timeliness, and appeal
    • List of invited speakers/panelists, including affiliations and email addresses for each and tentative title for each presentation
    • Format of session (e.g., chair, three speakers, and discussant)
  6. Session organizer, including affiliation and email address
  7. Session chair, including affiliation and email address
  8. Discussant (if any), including affiliation and email address

Submitted proposals will be available for editing July 21–September 8, 2021 (11:59 p.m. ET). To edit a session, you will need the confirmation number and password.

Topic-Contributed Session Proposals – Deadline December 9, 2021

Opens: November 11, 2021
Closes: December 9, 2021
Decision Due: January 6, 2022

Participation Limitations

To submit a topic-contributed session proposal, you will need the following:

  1. Session Type (Topic-Contributed)
  2. Session Subtype (Paper or Panel)
  3. Sponsor (ASA Committee, ASA Section, Sponsoring Society). A pull-down screen with a pre-approved list is provided; select no more than three.
  4. Session Title
  5. Session Description. Please provide any of the following:
    • Short description of session, including focus, content, timeliness, and appeal
    • List of invited speakers/panelists, including affiliations and email addresses for each and tentative title for each presentation
    • Format of session (e.g., chair, four speakers, and discussant)
  6. Session organizer, including affiliation and email address
  7. Session chair, including affiliation and email address
  8. Discussant (if any), including affiliation and email address

Submitted proposals will be available for editing November 11 to December 9, 2021 (11:59 p.m. ET). To edit a session, you will need the confirmation number and password.

Abstract Submissions – Deadline February 1, 2022

Presentations may be given on any topic of statistical interest; however, authors are encouraged to submit papers on the theme set by 2022 ASA President Kathy Ensor, “Statistics: A Foundation for Innovation.” Additionally, abstracts with a primary focus on statistical applications are encouraged.

Decision Due: March 31, 2022

Participation Limitations

To submit a session abstract, you will need the following:

  1. Session Type (Contributed, Topic-Contributed*, Roundtable)
  2. Session Subtype (Paper, Speed, Poster, A.M. or P.M. Roundtable)
  3. Primary Sponsor (ASA Committee, ASA Section, JSM Sponsoring Society). A pull-down screen with a pre-approved list is provided.
  4. Abstract Title
  5. Abstract Text (1,200-character limit)
  6. Abstract Keywords
  7. Presenting author and co-author contact information. Please note, there can only be one presenting author. Accurate and unique email addresses are required for all authors or records may be merged.
  8. Note whether the abstract can be considered for alternate session subtypes. The program committee will not have space for all paper abstracts received. Acceptance is more likely if the presentation can be made in different session formats.

Presenters may elect to use one of the following formats:

      Contributed Paper
      Contributed Poster
      Speed Presentation
      Topic-Contributed* Paper or Panel
      Roundtable Discussion (A.M. or P.M.)

*Session ID and organizer information required

After You Submit

The presenting author listed on each abstract will be notified via email by March 31, 2022, of the following:

  • Session number
  • Date and time of session in which abstract has been programmed
  • Contact information for session chair
  • A web link to the preliminary conference program
  • A web link to where you can edit your abstract
  • A web link to detailed information about your responsibilities as a JSM organizer, chair, discussant, speaker, panelist, or poster presenter
  • Draft manuscript deadlines
  • Speaker Ready Room information
Revisions

You may revise your abstract text, title, and keywords or add coauthors from December 1, 2021, through February 1, 2022, and March 31, 2022, through April 14, 2022.

Proof of Progress

All presenters must send proof of a paper in progress to the appropriate JSM session chair by May 31, 2022. Proof of a paper in progress can be a draft manuscript, detailed outline, PowerPoint slides, etc. If you do not send the required proof, your paper may be deleted from the program and become ineligible for publication in the JSM Proceedings. This requirement applies to all contributed and topic-contributed speakers and invited sessions with discussants.

Proceedings – Deadline October 7, 2022

Thank you for attending the 2022 Joint Statistical Meetings in Washington, DC. Included in your registration fee was access to the 2022 JSM Proceedings. The proceedings are now complete and available online.

ASA Members

Please log in to the ASA member portal. On the Subscriptions tab, select JSM Proceedings and you will be taken to the proceedings for 2012 to 2022.

The papers are in PDF format and can be searched by author, sponsor, session number, meeting, or keyword. You can access a paper by clicking on its title.

If you have trouble viewing any of the papers, please download the newest version of Adobe Acrobat. If you experience other technical difficulty, contact Cadmium at support@eventScribe.com.

Non-ASA Members

You should have received an email from Cadmium with a link to the proceedings and an access code. If you did not, please contact Cadmium at support@eventScribe.com.

Non-ASA Members Who Submitted a Paper Presented at a Conference Other Than JSM

Please contact Valerie Nirala for a PDF of your paper. You do not have access to the JSM Proceedings.

Citing Papers

To cite your paper, please refer to the following example:
