Abstract:

As large-scale aviation safety database grows in recent years, there is an intense interest among investigators to explore aviation safety using advanced data mining approaches. The NTSB aviation accident database contains rich information from 1962 and later about civil aviation accidents within the United States. In this article, using 1999-2019 NTSB Aviation Accident database, we monitor the emergence of adverse event rate in the commercial aircraft fleets. We adapted Likelihood Ratio Test (LRT) based method, which have previously been widely used in epidemiological studies and medical device safety surveillance, to explore aviation safety patterns of 96 commercial aircraft fleet model in U.S.
