Abstract:

This multidisciplinary study reports advanced statistical analysis of large nationwide data on the role of healthcare-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections among other healthcare-associated infections (HAI). We introduce the importance and the information that can be elucidated from complex datasets by using advanced nonlinear spatio-temporal modeling techniques that have not been otherwise exploited and used in the biomedical fields. Our results are achieved by bridging the gap between medical/clinical physicians, theoretical epidemiologists, and statisticians.
