Abstract

Without our own IRBs or dedicated ethics departments, ethics deserve special consideration from small, independent consultants. What ethical obligations do independent consultants actually have? How do our answers to ethical questions differ between the “classroom” and real life situations with complicating issues? We will review the ASA’s Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice through the lens of independent consultants, and participants will discuss our own responses to the ethical situations we have encountered.
