Abstract:

Healthy culture doesn’t just happen; it is achieved through intent and action. Recent events in our society have sparked a broader national conversation on diversity, equity and inclusion; and this conversation has inspired many individuals and organizations to actively seek ways to help drive positive change. The ASA has several ongoing and new initiatives that seek to make our professional culture healthy with respect to diversity, equity, and inclusion, but many members of our organization are unaware of these initiatives. In this session, leaders of some of these initiatives will provide insight into these efforts and share personal experiences to help convey the broad value of prioritizing equity and inclusion in our professional spaces. By telling the story of each effort and by sharing personal stories, attendees will be informed how and motivated to get involved.
