Abstract:

Louisiana reported its first COVID-19 case on March 9, 2020. The first prototype of our statewide reporting dashboard was available the next day, and was launched to the public a few days later. Our reporting and processes have evolved since that time: the current iteration of our public reporting is vastly more expansive and sophisticated than our first effort. In this presentation, we will discuss the challenges of balancing speed and accuracy of reporting, the evolution of data quality processes, and the role of leadership and community involvement in the design of data reporting. We will also discuss the opportunities for collaboration with both internal and external teams and the necessity of transparency in reporting.
