Abstract:

Stories help us make connections, understand our place in the world, and shape our perspective. Every community has its own stories or narratives, which when shared, help us find common ground and build a stronger community. The panelists, who have diverse perspectives, will share their experiences and insights gained from their professional and service experiences. These stories will include advice on sharing expertise for public good; working to achieve social justice for people with disabilities; and how taking risks, even if they are small, can help you expand your network and advance our profession. From these stories, the panel will explore the challenges and opportunities for contributing to the statistics and data science community and the broader community.
