Abstract #316712
Title: Inference Acknowledging Measurement Error: Honing the Concepts and Meeting the Scientific Need
Author(s): Paul Gustafson*
Companies: University of British Columbia
Keywords: Bayesian methods; Measurement error; Misclassification
Abstract:

In the context of adjusting epidemiological analyses for measurement error in key variables, some remarks will be offered on the interplay of theory and applications. Based on experiences of working within a large, multidisciplinary team, we comment on the technology transfer mechanism of getting more nuanced methodology deployed in practical problems. In the other direction, we also comment on the feedback mechanism of having work with practitioners inform new theory and methods research. We discuss what gaps exist between conceptual insights and practical, impactful applications. And we speculate on whether there are strategies for minding, if not reducing, these gaps.
