Abstract:
|
Untreated tooth decay remains the single most prevalent health condition worldwide. Multi-level (community level, family level, and individual level) factors have been shown to influence children’s health outcomes. Disparities in access to and utilization of dental care, and oral health status for the publicly insured pediatric population have been well documented. This talk considers evaluating a multilevel and multi-site program to access the impact of a real-world preventive care that aimed at addressing oral health disparities in children. Electronic Health Record (EHR) and socioenvironmental data presented both challenges and opportunities for such a program evaluation. To control for potential confounders in EHR and community data, we will discuss step-by-step strategy based on different approaches such as ordinary regression, matching and instrumental variable in the program evaluation to reduce dental disparities in children with real-world data.
