Abstract #316585
Title: Finding cosmic filament by the directional ridge finding algorithm
Author(s): Yikun Zhang and Yen-Chi Chen*

Keywords: filaments; astrostatistics; ridge; optimization
Abstract:

In this talk, we present a new method for finding cosmic filaments in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey based on a directional ridge finding approach. This method improved the usual subspace constraint mean-shift algorithm to the directional data scenario. Moreover, we will provide both statistical and computational guarantees of this new method.
