To submit an invited session proposal, you will need the following:
- Session Type (Invited)
- Session Subtype (Paper or Panel)
- Sponsor (Outside Organization, ASA Committee, ASA Section, Sponsoring Society, ASA Journal). A pull-down screen with a pre-approved list is provided; select no more than three.
- Session Title
- Session Description. Please provide any of the following information:
- Short description of session, including focus, content, timeliness, and appeal
- List of invited speakers/panelists, including affiliations and email addresses for each and tentative title for each presentation
- Format of session (e.g., chair, three speakers, and discussant)
- Session organizer, including affiliation and email address
- Session chair, including affiliation and email address
- Discussant (if any), including affiliation and email address
Submitted proposals will be available for editing July 18–September 6, 2018 (11:59 p.m. ET). To edit a session, you will need the confirmation number and password.

To submit a topic-contributed session proposal, you will need the following:
- Session Type (Topic-Contributed)
- Session Subtype (Paper or Panel)
- Sponsor (ASA Committee, ASA Section, Sponsoring Society). A pull-down screen with a pre-approved list is provided; select no more than three.
- Session Title
- Session Description. Please provide any of the following:
- Short description of session, including focus, content, timeliness, and appeal
- List of invited speakers/panelists, including affiliations and email addresses for each and tentative title for each presentation
- Format of session (e.g., chair, four speakers, and discussant)
- Session organizer, including affiliation and email address
- Session chair, including affiliation and email address
- Discussant (if any), including affiliation and email address
Submitted proposals will be available for editing November 12–December 12, 2018 (11:59 p.m. ET). To edit a session, you will need the confirmation number and password.
Presentations may be given on any topic of statistical interest; however, authors are encouraged to submit papers on the theme set by 2019 ASA President Karen Kafadar, “Statistics: Making an Impact.” Additionally, abstracts with a primary focus on statistical applications are encouraged.

- Abstract Title
- Abstract Text (1200 character limit)
- Abstract Keywords
- Presenting author and co-author contact information. Please note, there can only be one presenting author. Accurate and unique email addresses are required for all authors.
- Note if the abstract can be considered for alternate session subtypes. The program committee will not have space for all paper abstracts received. Acceptance is more likely if the presentation can be made in different session formats.
Presenters may elect to use one of the following formats:
Contributed Paper
Contributed Poster
Speed Presentation
Topic-Contributed* Paper or Panel
Roundtable Discussion (A.M. or P.M.)
*Session ID and organizer information required
After You Submit
The presenting author listed on each abstract will be notified via email by April 1, 2019 , of the following:
- Session number
- Date and time of session in which abstract has been programmed
- Contact information for session chair
- A web link to the preliminary online program
- A web link to where you can edit your abstract
- A web link to detailed information about your responsibilities as a JSM organizer, chair, discussant, speaker, panelist, or poster presenter
- Draft manuscript deadlines
- Speaker Management Room information
Revisions
You may revise your abstract text, title, and keywords or add coauthors from December 3, 2018, through February 4, 2019, and April 1 through April 18, 2019.
Proof of Progress
All presenters must send proof of a paper in progress to the appropriate JSM session chair by May 17, 2019. Proof of a paper in progress can be a draft manuscript, detailed outline, PowerPoint slides, etc. If you do not send the required proof, your paper may be deleted from the program and become ineligible for publication in the JSM Proceedings. This requirement applies to all contributed and topic-contributed speakers and invited sessions with discussants.
Thank you for attending the 2019 Joint Statistical Meetings last summer in Denver, Colorado. Included in your registration fee was access to the 2019 JSM Proceedings. The proceedings are now complete and available online.
ASA Members
Please log in to ASA Members Only. On the Members Only tab, select JSM Proceedings and choose 2019. If you prefer a CD-ROM of the proceedings, please request a copy be mailed to you.
The papers are in PDF format and can be searched by author, sponsor, session number, or meeting. You can access a paper by clicking on its title.

Non-ASA Members
