Abstract:
|
In CATI-surveys, a large part of the nonresponse often consists of noncontacts. We have tested SMS text messages as pre-notification before calling. The hopes are to increase contact rates and to reduce costs. We evaluate this intervention using embedded experiments in two longitudinal surveys conducted by Statistics Sweden. Analysis of the experiments are ongoing, and will be presented in the paper. Initial analysis of the experiments suggest that the contact rates can be increased for previous noncontacts and that less contact attempts are needed when this intervention is added. However, we have also seen some adverse effects such as increased refusal rates. An additional experiment will also be performed in February in order to get additional data for the analysis.
