Abstract:
|
A study on actual and emerging indigenous knowledge and practices implemented by smallholder farmers was carried out in three sub-counties of Kibaale District in Uganda. Using the data collected from this study and various Statistical Learning methods, we identify salient features and implemented practices on these farms which are most useful in predicting farm income. The prediction accuracy of these methods is compared, and a recommendation is obtained from the model with highest prediction accuracy for the farming practices which lead to the greatest likelihood of high farm incomes.
