Abstract #311805
Title: At What Point Do Students' Attitudes Change?
Author(s): April Kerby*+ and Jacqueline Wroughton
Companies: Winona State University and Northern Kentucky University
Keywords: Students' Attitudes ; Introductory Statistics
Abstract:

Since the Spring 2013 semester, we've conducted a study which focuses on how the implementation of a "question of the week" impacts students' attitudes in an introductory statistics course at Northern Kentucky University and Winona State University. The authors assessed the change in students' attitudes using the SATS © survey (Schau 2003). When doing so, we collected the typical pre- and post- tests, but in addition, administered the post- test midway through the semester as well. During a session at JSM 2013, a question was posed regarding whether or not anyone had administered the SATS survey partway through the semester, and if so, are the same attitude trends present in students' attitudes as when looking at the pre- and post-test results. Our poster will focus on the survey results when all three implementations (pre, mid, and post) of the survey are given.
