The weather in Boston varies with the four seasons. In the summer, Boston is hot and humid during the day but can be chilly at night. It is best to check the weather before packing. Website links providing basic weather information include www.weather.gov and www.weather.com.

Suggested Attire

Bostonians dress smartly and simply. Prepare for hot and humid days and cool nights. Afternoons should be clear and bright, but evenings can be chilly. Dress in light-weight or business casual clothes and comfortable shoes when walking around the city. Be prepared with a light-weight jacket or sweater for evenings and when attending sessions and meetings, as the convention center and hotels are air-conditioned. It is also advised to bring an umbrella.

Boston Attractions

Boston is the perfect mix of historical and hip and offers an array of activities. There are numerous historical sites to visit like the Freedom Trail, the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, the Bunker Hill Monument, and the Old North Church. After getting your history fill, relax at the Boston Common or visit the Boston Public Garden and take a swan boat ride before preparing for dinner and a night out on the town. Travel Information

Airports

General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport (BOS) is located 8 minutes from the Boston Convention and Exhibit Center. Boston is accessible from both U.S. and international locations. In addition to Logan International, there are two other major airports fewer than 90 minutes from downtown Boston. They are Manchester Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, New Hampshire, and T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Airline Discounts

Delta, Air France, KLM, and Alitalia are offering discounts for attendees originating from the United States and Canada and traveling between July 30 and August 10, 2014. To make a discounted reservation, go to www.delta.com, select Book a Trip, click on More Search Options, and enter the meeting code (NMJ4E) in the box provided on the Search Flight. You also can call (800) 328-1111, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., CDT.

Airport Shuttle Discounts

GO Boston Shuttle is offering JSM attendees a discounted airport shuttle service. Pick up and drop off locations are at the convention center and all eight of the JSM hotels. To book you shuttle, please visit here.

Taxi Service

Many companies provide taxi service from Logan International Airport. You can find a taxi curbside in each terminal on the arrival level. A dispatcher will assist you in finding a taxi.

Car Rentals

Hertz is offering JSM attendees discounted rental cars in Boston from July 27 - September 14, 2014. The discounted rates can be seen here. To receive the discounted rates, be sure to enter our Convention Number (CV), which is 04YJ0001, at www.hertz.com.

Public Transportation

The Boston Convention & Exhibit Center is located just off of Boston's subway. To get to the convention center, take the Silver Line and get off at the World Trade Center Station. For more information, visit www.mbta.com. Boston Express Bus provides daily scheduled "hourly plus" service between Southern New Hampshire, Boston South Station, and Logan Airport. For more information, visit www.bostonexpressbus.com.

If you have a disability that may impede your participation, check the box during the registration process that asks if you require special assistance and include a statement regarding your needs. The ASA Meetings Department will contact you prior to JSM, but appropriate accommodations cannot be ensured without prior notification. The Boston Convention & Exhibit Center is accessible to patrons with disabilities.
