Abstract:

The automotive industry has unique and significant challenges in sensing and responding to customer demand. Customer preferences change rapidly, products are complex with respect to numerous option configurations, and lead-times are lengthy. Customers have many touchpoints (e.g., web, dealership) and relevant databases are large. Our Enterprise Demand Sensing Research Program must not only investigate and innovate in terms of analytical methodologies, but also drive a collaborative decisionmaking framework integrated with our business processes. We focus on demand sensing for vehicles plus accessories and service parts, and statistical areas of interest include web data mining, forecasting, and data aggregation techniques.
