Description

Data-driven provider profiling of the quality and efficiency of medical care is becoming an important management tool. This session explores the contributions of statistical theory to the creation of profile reports that are both clinically and statistically credible, accounting for a variety of provider and practice characteristics. We will hear about how hierarchical Bayesian methods help to address these concerns. In this session, we will hear from both statistical methodologists and those who design and use profiling systems for quality improvement.
