Description
This session, sponsored by the International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS) of the International Statistical Institute will focus on the training of professionals in methods for developing, implementing and evaluating sample surveys. We are dedicating this session to the memory of Leslie Kish who was recognized as world's leading experts in this area and who personally made a major contribution in establishing the goals of the IASS and ensuring the use of sound statistical practices. One of Leslie Kish's major accomplishments was the establishment of a summer training program for foreign statisticians. In this session we discuss the training needs and training programs for survey statisticians in developed and developing countries as well as in government. Sample surveys are becoming pervasive as the demand for reliable information about our society is growing. This session would have wide appeal among academics, government statisticians and market researchers interested in the professional development of statisticians today.
