Abstract:

We are developing an intelligent tutor for an introductory statistical reasoning course. In this talk we will discuss: (1) what we have learned through cognitive analysis at the first phase of the tutor development about the pedagogy of statistics' instruction; and (2) how we are using the tutor as a data collection tool to investigate questions about student learning of statistical concepts and statistical practice. Illustrative examples will be presented.
