Abstract:

We will discuss what we believe to be the five big ideas that we would like students in a first course in statistics to understand. Ideas will be shared regarding how to help make these ideas more explicit and recognizable via imbedding them as themes in the course, highlighting them in activities, and using applets and computer simulations to help students visualize these ideas.
