Title: What Are the Differences We See?
Author(s): Van Bowen*+ and Bill Rolfes
Affiliation(s): Applied Business Technologies and 3M
Address: 517 St. Albans Way, Richmond, Virginia, 23229,
Keywords: six sigma ; industrial statistics
Abstract:

A company's decision to implement Six Sigma is a potential bonanza for the statistician, for she is expert in the core methods of Six Sigma. The culture of Six Sigma is different, though, than traditional business culture, so the demands and expectations on everyone, including the statistician, are a little different than the past. We will look at some of these differences and suggest how students can be best equipped to deal with the changing times.
