Author(s): William Duckworth*+
Affiliation(s): Iowa State University
Address: 326 Snedecor Hall, Ames, Iowa, 50011-1210,
Keywords: Statistics Education ; Amstat Online
Abstract:

In an ever increasing number of disciplines, the World Wide Web has become the primary means for dissemination of information. In order to promote the materials and activities of Statistics Education and Teacher Enhancement, the ASA Web site needs to be expanded and enhanced. Building on existing materials on Quantitative Literacy and coordinating with the efforts of the Council of Chapters, the ASA Web site needs to expand its content and capabilities with respect to Statistics Education support at all levels. In terms of content, the ASA website should serve as an annotated clearinghouse for all things related to Statistics Education. In terms of capabilities, the tools are becoming available to make www.amstat.org/education more interactive, attractive (especially to young people), easy to navigate, easy to find by non-ASA members, and supportive of CSE and ACTE initiatives (especially with regard to K-12 Education).

A look at current content and capabilities followed by an overview of where ASA might go with improvements will comprise this talk. Input will be accepted, so please bring your ideas along!
