This poster highlights our expertise and experience in creating a biostatistics business model within the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. We will share how we provide statistical support and services as a team of doctoral and MS level statisticians, along with students of statistics and nursing, in a research intensive environment. We will discuss strategies for collaborating and communicating with investigators that include faculty, students and external clients; we will also discuss strategies for for making a positive impact on nursing by helping to secure grant funding, preparing statistically sound manuscripts, and training students to be our future scholars. Under a percent-effort or fee-for service model, our biostatisticians work on grant preparation, funded and unfunded analyses, independent research, faculty and doctoral student consultation, serve as doctoral dissertation committee members and guest lecturers, and direct independent studies and research residencies for doctoral students. Lastly, we will outline creative strategies we have developed to manage a constant flow of competing client needs, in addition to recruit talented staff level assistants under major budget constraints.
