PrefStat 2025 - Preference Statistics summer school

PrefStat summer school is a high-level course on cutting-edge topics in the specific context of Statistical Learning from Preference Information, or Preference Learning. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of preference statistics, a rapidly growing field that has gained significant attention in recent years due to the numerous application fields involving human preferences: recommender systems, Large Language Models, surveys and psychological experiments, marketing, economics, and political science. Preference learning is concerned with all data analyses involving preferences, rankings, ratings, clicking, or any kind of ordinal data. It entails modeling experiments involving a set of assessors (experts, judges, users) who express order relations about a set of items, thus being a subfield of both supervised and unsupervised statistical learning.

The school will provide a deep introduction to the topic and insight into more challenging tasks that are of interest in modern applications, such as handling partial, unstructured, exogenous information, individual preference prediction, and importance feature selection. PrefStat 2025 will combine lectures delivered by internationally leading scholars on the specific designated topic and supervised practical tutorials.

MaSeMo : Markov, Semi-Markov Models and Associated Fields (from Theory to Application and back)

Markov chains, semi-Markov chains, and more broadly, Markov processes and their hidden variants constitute a rich and versatile family of stochastic models with applications spanning a wide range of fields, including population dynamics, epidemic modeling, seismology, speech and activity recognition, and reliability analysis. Despite their widespread use, ongoing theoretical and algorithmic advancements are essential to tackle emerging challenges in real-world problems, such as those involving complex observations, multiple interacting hidden dynamics, or control scenarios with constraints. These models have been explored from diverse perspectives across methodological communities-such as process statistics, computational statistics, and optimal control-and applied domains, including signal processing, ecology, and medicine. As part of the ANR HSMM-INCA project, the national workshop PMSMA was organized in 2023 to bring together the French statistical community engaged in these topics. The MASEMO workshop has two key objectives: expanding PMSMA scope to an international audience and extending its thematic range. Hidden Markov and semi-Markov models are often developed independently within non-statistical communities, such as signal processing and artificial intelligence. The upcoming workshop seeks to bridge these gaps by fostering dialogue and collaboration across disciplines, particularly on topics at the intersection of these fields. We hope the event will provide a framework to share the latest developments, encompassing theoretical insights, modeling techniques, inference methods, decision-making strategies, and practical applications. 

DSSV 2025

Data Science, Statistics & Visualisation is an annual conference of the International Association of Statistical Computing aimed at bringing together researchers and practitioners interested in the interplay of statistics, computer science, and visualization, and to build bridges between these fields for interdisciplinary research. This conference shall create a forum to discuss recent progress and emerging ideas in these different disciplines and encourage informal contacts and discussions among all the participants. Presentations should thus be oriented towards a very wide scientific audience, and can cover topics such as machine learning and statistical learning, the visualisation and verbalization of data, big data infrastructures and analytics, interactive learning, advanced computing, and other important themes.

2025 Online Summer Institute in Statistics for Clinical & Epidemiological Research

The Summer Institute in Statistics for Clinical & Epidemiological Research (SISCER) offers 15 introductory and advanced short courses in methods for clinical research and epidemiology. Participants will find learning opportunities for clinical trials, causal inference, two- phase studies, complex surveys, and analyzing longitudinal and time-to-event data. Courses vary from one to four days and are offered online only. Participants may take one or more courses depending on their needs.

2025 Online Summer Institute in Statistics for Big Data

The Summer Institute for Statistics in Big Data (SISBID) is designed to introduce biologists, quantitative scientists, and statisticians to modern statistical techniques for the analysis of biological big data. It offers online short courses in Data Wrangling with R, Data Visualization, Supervised and Unsupervised Methods for Statistical Learning. All courses will be online only and participants may take one course or all four.

34th International Statistics Symposium in Colombia

The Simposio Internacional de Estadistica in Colombia would serve as a space to (i) disseminate, and discussion of statistical presentations that are conducted by statistical students, professors, users and researchers in statistics; (ii) generate dynamics in statistical activities, incentivizing the generation of new publications and the new statistical research paths, (iii) promote a space for the discussion of inter-institutional projects and to develop projects and agreements for inter-institutional projects, as well as the development of groups and research projects. This symposium has been one of the most important statistical scientific meetings in Latin-American in which people in academia and others professional sciences of the scientific community interested in diverse statistical applications, including Colombian residents or from other countries, would meet seeking to sharp their cutting-edge statistical knowledge, as well as to share their own experiences in this field. The 2025 symposium topic is Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Shari Messinger (University of Miami) is supported by the International Biometric Society and she plans a plenary session on "Clinical Trials for Implementation Science". Participants who paid their registration fee before June 9/2025 will receive virtual access to the plenary session with the IX Encuentro Iberoamericano de Biometría (EIB) 2025 in Quito, Ecuador, South America from July 9- 11/2025

2025 IMS New Researchers Conference

The 25th annual Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) New Researchers Conference (NRC), co-hosted by Vanderbilt's Department of Biostatistics, will be in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 31 to August 2, just before the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM). NRC offers early-career researchers in statistics, biostatistics, and probability the opportunity to network and receive guidance from senior researchers on topics like publishing, funding, collaboration, and more. Participants can expect to present their research through posters and brief expository talks. Attendance is invitation only. Applications are due May 15. 2025 Joint Statistical Meetings

JSM is one of the Largest Statistical Events in the World with more than 6,500 attendees from 52 countries; 600+ sessions, including invited, topic-contributed, contributed, and poster presentations; more than 1,000 student attendees, 75+ employers hiring for more than 200 positions, 100+ exhibitors; and more than 40 Professional Development short courses and workshops. Conference in Honor of David Oakes

After 42 years of exemplary service, Professor David Oakes will retire from the University of Rochester faculty at the end of June 2025. To celebrate David's remarkable contributions, the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology will host a conference in his honor on Friday, September 12, 2025. The conference will feature an outstanding lineup of invited speakers focusing on survival analysis and related areas, reflecting the breadth and impact of David's research. 2025 NBER-NSF Time Series Conference

The 2025 NBER-NSF Time Series Conference will be held Friday-Saturday, September 19-20, hosted by the Departments of Economics and Statistics at Rutgers University. The conference will be in person only. It will begin Friday morning and end Saturday afternoon. The NBER-NSF Time Series Conference has long been the premier annual conference in time series; it is particularly noted for bridging econometrics and statistics. It also features both applications and theory. Areas of application include, but are not limited to macroeconometrics, financial econometrics, climate econometrics, machine learning in time-series environments, among others. 2025 ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop

The ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Regulatory-Industry Statistics Workshop is sponsored by the ASA Biopharmaceutical Section in cooperation with the FDA Statistical Association. Bayesian Biostatistics Conference

The Bayes Pharma conference is dedicated since 2010 to advancing the application of Bayesian statistics within the biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors. Its primary objectives include promoting Bayesian methodologies in biomedical sciences, showcasing practical case studies across clinical and non-clinical environments, and updating participants on the latest methodological advancements in Bayesian statistics pertinent to medicine and public health. Additionally, the conference aims to provide statisticians with opportunities to adapt to the evolving landscape of the biopharmaceutical industry. The event spans three days, commencing with a training course focused in 2025 on Bayesian and Causal Networks for Clinical and Epidemiological Data. Research at the Interface of Applied Mathematics and Machine Learning

The National Science Foundation and the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences presents Regional Research Conferences in the Mathematical Sciences. This conference will expose early career researchers to cutting-edge research at the interface of applied mathematics and machine learning and also help identify new research directions and will foster the building of new collaborations between research groups in the Texas-Louisiana area and other regions. The 10 principal lectures will be divided into three modules. Module 1 consists of three introductory lectures on machine learning, e.g. deep neural networks and learning problems. The second module of three lectures will introduce important components of applied mathematics in machine learning, such as optimization and regularization. The last 4-lecture module will focus on the use of machine learning in critical problems in computational and applied mathematics, for example inverse problems and high dimensional partial differential equations. The principal lectures will be supplemented by a dozen contributed talks from participants, a poster session, a mentoring academic panel, and a panel that featuring researchers from industry. MaxEnt 2025

For the 2025 edition of the MaxEnt conference, the focus will be the application of Bayesian inference and/or the maximum entropy principle to inference and inverse problems in various scientific and engineering domains.

Inverse and uncertainty quantification problems emerge in a wide variety of fields, such as earth science, astrophysics, material and plasma science, geophysical and medical imaging, nondestructive testing, density estimation, remote sensing, Gaussian process regression, optimal experimental design, statistics, machine learning, and data mining.

The conference invites contributions on all aspects of probabilistic inference, encompassing novel techniques and applications, as well as work that provides new insights into the foundations of inference.
