ASA/NCTM K-12 Education in Statistics and Probability
Charge:
Provide national and state-level leadership and advocacy to promote the connection between statistics and mathematics in K-12 education. Promote statistical and mathematical proficiency, appropriate pedagogy, and high-quality practice among current teachers, future teachers, teacher educators, and teacher leaders. Support the development of appropriate statistical and mathematical materials, assessments, programs, and curricula.
Composition:
The Committee is composed of four appointed members from the ASA and four from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Two members are appointed/reappointed each year, and by each organization, for three year terms. The Chair is a member of the Committee and serves for two years. The Chair is alternately appointed by the ASA and the NCTM.
