Charge:
The Harry V. Roberts Statistical Advocate of the Year (SAY) Award recognizes the promotion of statistical reasoning by individuals who may or may not be statisticians themselves. The award was established in 2002 by the Chicago Chapter; in 2015 it became a joint presentation by the Chicago Chapter and ASA. The charge of the committee is to develop a strong set of nominees for the Roberts Award and to annually select the recipient.
Composition:
The committee has seven members, serving for two year terms. Two members each are appointed by the American Statistical Association and the Chicago Chapter and three of the members are jointly appointed by both the ASA and the CC. Each year one ASA and one CC member and either one or two jointly appointed members should be appointed/reappointed. No member may serve for more than two complete consecutive terms. One member each year also serves as the Chair, alternatively appointed by the ASA and the CC.
