Abstract #322467
Title: Why Do Students Hate Statistics?
Author(s): Michael DeDonno*
Companies: Florida Atlantic University
Keywords: Statistics courses ; Learning statistics ; Teaching statistics ; Learning theories ; Motivation ; Education
Abstract:

Many statistics instructors experience the reality that a significant number of students view statistics as their least favorite course. The purpose of this roundtable discussion will be to consider the behavioral and cognitive factors that seem to impact a student's desire and interest to take statistics courses. A better understanding of these factors may help instructors create learning programs that rouse students to embrace statistics.
