Charge:

To select two Noether Awards each year. One award (Noether Distinguished Scholar) will be for a recognized scholar who has made outstanding contributions to nonparametric statistics in research and/or teaching. The second award (Noether Early Career Scholar Award) will be for a researcher under the age of 35 years who has demonstrated interest and achievements in nonparametric statistics in research or teaching. The committee will also select no more than two Noether Early Career Scholars who demonstrate interest and achievements in nonparametric statistics in research and/or teaching. The Noether Early Career Scholar is selected based on significant accomplishments in nonparametric statistics, interpreted broadly to include theory, methodology, and outstanding applications. Eligibility for this award is for those who obtained their PhD degree or an equivalent degree in the past eight years.

Composition:

The committee has nine members, three of whom are appointed/reappointed each year by the President Elect for three-year terms. One member is also appointed (when necessary) by the President Elect to serve as Chair. The Chair of the Section on Non-parametric Statistics will also serve as an ex-officio member.
