*Chantal Larose, Eastern Connecticut State UniversityKeywords: league of legends, data science, data analytics
The online multiplayer video game League of Legends is popular worldwide, with 115 million monthly players. The in-game resource gold has been repeatedly shown to be a powerful predictor of victory, but previous research often focused on game-wide gold acquisition and not early-game behaviors, despite team- and player-share of gold in the early game recognized in the community as powerful predictors of victory. We investigate player behavior through gold share percentages and how differing behaviors influence the probability of victory within the North American League of Legends professional community.
