Assessment data is prolific and drawn upon by policy makers to inform decision making. Using data for policy change in the international context, however, is challenging due to lack of capacity for understanding and interpreting the data. The Early Grade Reading Barometer is one of only a few web-based applications allowing access and ease of understanding education data. Sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development, the tool showcases Early Grade Reading Assessment Data, an individual, oral assessment for early grade reading skill acquisition. This presentation explores the effective visualizations for international policy makers and the considerations behind their creation. We highlight the simplicity and disaggregation of data which give way to data accessibility and equity. These methods can be applied to international or domestic assessment data with diverse populations and non-technical audiences.
